Chapter 50

How to Plan Your Grading Submissions (Smart Strategy)

The best collectors don’t send random cards — they plan waves.

1. Sort Into 3 Piles

Grade Now (high-value, clean)

Grade Later (market timing)

Raw Forever (not worth grading)

2. Analyze Market Timing

Grade:

before season start (sports)

before new release hype

during vintage nostalgia cycles

before set anniversaries (Pokémon)

3. Study Population Reports

Low-pop cards = huge upside.

4. Compare Raw vs. Graded Value

If grading cost > likely gain → don’t send.

5. Batch Submit Clean Cards

It’s cheaper and more efficient to submit in bulk.

6. Use Bright Light Inspections

Look for:

scratches

print lines

whitening

centering

The more you pre-screen → the better your ROI.
